🧑🏻💻 Who is Stephen Gray? Stephen has been described as entrepreneurial, but at heart, he’s a digital futurist, strategist, and creative, involved in this space his entire academic and professional life (25 years).
🕵🏻 Stephen’s primary focus Stephen’s focus is on his recently started venture studio called Good add Ventures, which creates impact startups (tech-for-good).
He also continues to work with his creative agency Creamos, directing its creative team on high-profile client projects.
🚶🏻♂️Stephen’s Journey After university, in 2001, Stephen started his first business, the digital creative agency Stickee. The agency worked with some of the world's leading brands to create campaigns that kept people 'stuck' in the experience.
It took Stephen the next 15 years to find his true calling, which he found from work and personal experiences. At Stickee, he created digital projects that influenced human addictive behaviour. At the same time, Stephen was experiencing family trauma caused or accentuated by toxic human-tech relationships. He realised that designers of any experience have the power to positively or negatively affect their audience's behaviour, social dynamic, and well-being.
Stephen felt compelled to educate designers, especially in the tech sector, about what he had discovered and wanted to expose unethical design practices. In 2016, he sold Stickee and set up Real Social Tech to research his newly found interest.
At the start of 2020, Stephen had exhausted his funding and left feeling frustrated with the lack of interest and slow pace of change in the social tech sector. Fed up with preaching on deaf ears and realising this space was starting to fill with higher-profile big-tech converts; he decided to do what he does best and take action by building solutions.
💡 The Venture Studio
Good add Ventures is a venture studio (a company that creates companies) that acts as a creative incubator. It builds and nurtures its startups with the comprehensive resources and expert team of Stephen's world-class creative agency, Creamos, covering strategy, brand, product, and traction.
Founders are hired immediately prior to a pre-seed raise, with the startup already de-risked and ready for investment.
The plan is to focus on two internally created startups at any given time, alongside developing Good add Ventures content, which promotes the studio and its ventures.
🚀 The Startups The details of the startups are only revealed to the public when they are ready to hire the Founders and complete their first private investment round.
The first company, Resbite, is now ready. It draws on Stephen’s experience as a social tech anthropologist to reimagine what social networking can look like if designed with a code of ethics. Find out more at www.resbite.com
